Many leading search engines and directories like manual submission through their submission pages. This is to protect their web sites from many SEO companies which are using auto submission scripts. When you are submitting to the DMOZ, the internet's biggest human edited directory you must use an email with the URL and the URL must be without the www, and some free submit web sites require your website name to end with a /.

If you have submitted your web site URL once there is no need to submit it again and again as the spiders of the search engines will automatically crawl your web sites whenever you upload with new content. So don't forget to enable the spiders to access your web site.
